In 2010, she was appointed General Manager of the Group’s Voorspoed mine and three and a half years later became Senior Vice-President of De Beers Sightholder Sales South Africa, the company that sorts, values and sells all De Beers Group production in South Africa.

She was made Deputy CEO of De Beers Consolidated Mines in November 2017, rising to her current position as the first head of the Group’s Managed Operations business 17 months later. Managed Operations includes De Beers Group's operations in South Africa and Canada.

Dr Brennan Jacoby

Philosopher & Founder

Philosophy at work

Dr. Brennan Jacoby is a philosopher and the founder of Philosophy at Work, an organisation helping businesses think their best. Brennan holds a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D in philosophy, and his doctoral work analysed trust in the context of interpersonal relationships and corporate character. With Philosophy at Work, he helps businesses and their people develop the psychological safety and cognitive confidence they need to think their best as they navigate an everchanging professional landscape. Recent projects include helping Deloitte UK cultivate a growth mindset, supporting The Wellcome Trust to explore trust in healthcare, and enhancing curiosity across Sony Music’s global community.

A Macquarie Research Excellence Award recipient, Brennan is the author of: Trust and Betrayal: A Conceptual Analysis (Macquarie Univ. 2011).  His other publications include; The Vices and Virtues of Collaboration (commissioned by Dropbox, 2016), “The Doolittle Effect” in Four-Legged Therapy (Octopus, 2018), “Who Can You Trust in a Post-Truth World” (commissioned by Nesta); and “Innovative Enquiry” (Communication Director, 2018).

Brennan works across industries and sectors (examples include groups from Herbert Smith Freehills, Sky, Sony Music, Slaughter and May, Hogan Lovells, Capital One Bank, Deloitte, Media Arts Lab, Ropes and Gray, The Guardian, Nike, and The Financial Times), and with global teams, having delivered sessions in the UK, Ireland, USA, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Denmark, Spain, Australia and Taiwan.

In addition to his role with Philosophy at Work, Brennan is a fellow at the Royal Society of the Arts. Originally from Detroit Michigan, he studied in Sydney, Australia and is now based in the UK.

I transitioned from a career in hospitality to the wonderful world of events and have been fortunate enough to run some truly extraordinary events in locations across the UK. Whether planning an intimate function in a pub or organising a grand, high-end occasion in an art gallery, I love the detail involved in making sure everyone has a memorable experience.

Working as the Learning Events Manager, I help bring to (virtual) life all the engaging events that we create for learners as part of the Transformational Leadership Programme.

When not delivering events, I’m attending them. I go to the theatre as often as possible, love an exhibition at a gallery or museum and am always up for a race (cycling or on foot). I also host quiz nights around London… but I just present them, so don’t expect me to know it all!

My experience spanning education, retail and property management includes developing key operational activities that enhance the customer experience and delivering robust, quality compliance frameworks.

Motivated by a strive for influential and transformative results where my contribution has a visible impact, I’m in my element leading the Admissions & Compliance team. In this role, I find many opportunities to innovate in an organisation where diversity of thought is encouraged – an approach which enhances my exploratory mindset and intention to thrive with purpose.

Outside of my role, I express myself creatively through illustration and continue to be inspired by reading a book each month accompanied by my favourite chocolate cheesecake!

I studied English and Film at university and also spent a lot of my time running round an Athletics track! My degree had creativity at its heart and I enjoy working in a dynamic, creative environment that allows me to continue learning while finding innovative and efficient solutions to challenging projects.

As Commercial Programmes Lead, I work with inspirational organisations to design and implement unique leadership development programmes that help to foster agile and collaborative leaders. In this role, I put into practice how we teach learners by valuing the power of an engaged and communicative team and supporting colleagues with focused-problem solving.

I love to travel – and can’t wait to get back to exploring the world again sometime in the not-too-distant future.

As a Learning Events Executive, my role involves the planning and running of the events that we create for learners as part of the Learning Programme, as well as liaising with suppliers, facilitators and outsourcing content.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, take long hikes with our dog and visit the beach for a dip, a surf or a leisurely paddle board when my toddler allows me to.

Working in education management, I co-ordinated international and study abroad programmes for foreign students in London. My master’s thesis required me to carry out extensive research into the impact of transformational leadership and its benefits in the workplace. This insightful experience affirmed my passion to support and encourage others to learn and grow.

As the Learning Technologies Manager, one of my main roles is engaging with our Learning Management System to make sure our learners have a smooth and enjoyable digital learning journey.

Outside of the office, I’m a keen runner and dessert enthusiast – balance is the key! I enjoy travelling to explore the diversity of our world, and my fascination for different cultures and languages has led me to begin learning Spanish – Bienvenidos al futuro aprendizaje de talentos!

With my love for education, I studied for a Diploma in Events Management and a BA in International Hotel Management in my native Canada, before moving to Edinburgh to refine my attention to detail in front-of-house, sales and events roles in some of the city’s five-star hotels.

It’s important to me to get the details right and nothing is more satisfying than knowing that my efforts have made someone’s day better. My role as Admissions & Compliance Executive aligns with my belief in the importance of continuing development, and it’s gratifying to know that I’m playing even a small part in helping learners further their growth.

On days off, I enjoy pottering in the garden, walking along Scotland’s glorious coastline, or indulging in dark chocolate and re-runs of classic British sitcoms.

Up until now I’ve worked in a multitude of industries; from security and customer service to coaching and sales. I’ve taken time to travel some of the world as a photographer which was a passion of mine for a long time. I spent a few years running a charity and I think the combination of all my life experiences has prepared me for any challenge the world decides to throw at me.

As a Learning Technologies Coordinator, I am working closely with the team to help keep the Learner Management System running as smoothly as possible for all our learners.

Outside of work I’m a huge nerd but I have a very demanding husky who loves going on adventures, so I try to spend as much time as possible taking him on them!

I spent my early career as a communicator in the Royal Naval Submarine Service. I worked on diesel-electric and nuclear submarines, sometimes carrying out deterrent patrols. My time in the Navy gave me various insights into leadership and teamwork, and I took what I’d learned into retail management.

I realised I loved training and coaching people, and so studied for my training qualifications whilst managing a care team for a disabled young adult. Once I’d qualified and they’d graduated, I started to deliver apprenticeships. I love exploring new leadership models, and am passionate about access to education, so I’m delighted to coach at FTL.

Hope you like dogs? I have two Welsh spaniels that love to bark... so listen out for them when we’re on a call!

Before joining Future Talent Learning, I taught Italian and Spanish. I love languages and how they provide a wonderful opportunity to know a culture better. My professional experience in the private sector saw me work as a customer account manager, often as a single point of contact for companies in Europe and the Middle East and Africa.

I have a passion for learning and enjoy being exposed to new theories that I can apply practically to support learners. As a coach, it is a pleasure to make a difference to people’s lives. I find this truly rewarding.

Free time for me means spending time with my wife and children. And if the topic of sport comes up in one of our sessions, you’ll quickly realise that football has my heart.

I started out as a graphic designer, but my passion for learning ultimately led me to 10 years in education. I have taught in London, Bangkok and Madrid, taking on various leading and mentoring responsibilities.

My experiences in education, leadership and client management give me a unique coaching insight, and I love using this to empower my learners and support them through the programme.

Who am I and what do I like to do? Well, I am British Sudanese, I speak Arabic and, if you haven’t guessed already, I love to travel. Hiking and water rafting are also high up on my activities list... despite the small fact that I’m actually a terrible swimmer.

I worked in front of house in London’s West End before moving into education. My thirst for adventure led me to move a little further - this time to Spain to teach English. I’ve been in the south of Spain for many years, and have loved total immersion in the culture and language.

I am inspired by working with enthusiastic learners who are keen to develop themselves, which naturally led me to join FTL. I combine my skills as an educationalist and coach to provide tailored support and encouragement. Being able to communicate in both English and Spanish strengthens my enjoyment of working with diverse groups around the globe.

At weekends, you’ll find me relaxing at the beach (respite is the key to good work), or reading on my roof terrace – I facilitate our learner book club so come and say hello!

I spent my early career as a civil litigation lawyer. After an epiphany, I decided to take a leap and move my career into the direction of coaching. I’ve worked in a coaching capacity with organisations such as the Government Legal Department, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Attorney General’s Office as well as many Legal 500 law firms. Before joining Future Talent, I was the Lead Coach at Virgin Active where I coached and developed senior leaders and sat within the HR function of the organisation. My specialisms include: HR, Legal and personal development.

I have a French Bulldog called Yoda who may sometimes make special guest appearances in calls if you say her name (or shout “Jedi”) loudly enough!

My first role was as a production co-ordinator for an international events organisation, where a can-do attitude and growth mindset were key. I then worked in education as a teacher, co-ordinator and support worker across businesses and secondary schools.

Having worked in four countries on two continents, and inside the public, private and voluntary sectors, I have developed a keen cultural and critical awareness, and sense of inclusivity. I have also learned to be agile and flex my communication style, attributes that I love seeing develop in my learners.

Films and music occupy much of my free time, unless I’m daydreaming about the campervan, wondering where and when I can embark on my next tour...

I started my career as a criminal defence lawyer – a baptism of fire in resilience, agility and solutions focus. While I wouldn’t take back a second, ultimately I followed my passion for new ideas, building relationships, and great communication into innovation, social change and education.

I believe in vulnerability, leading from the bench and championing one another: I love that my role allows me to live out those values.

When I’m not coaching, you’ll probably find me up a tree. (I have an olive and almond farm in Catalunya.)

Before moving into education, I worked as an employability advisor, helping clients to find sustainable careers. I enjoyed helping clients with their careers and life goals so much that I eventually decided to take the big leap into teaching, with a focus on adult education. I spent the next 10 years working for a number of colleges, helping people to develop their skills and complete the qualifications they needed to achieve their goals. As I used to manage an English and Maths department, my specialisms include communication and problem solving.

My passion for adult education remains as strong as ever, but when I get some time away from the day job, I like to go for runs along the coast and enjoy indoor bouldering

My career started in live music and ended up in learning - which makes sense, really. Both are about creating experiences people actually remember. As Head of Curriculum and Creative Content, I design learning that connects, provokes, and occasionally surprises.

I’m fascinated by what drives people - how they think, learn, and lead — and I love translating that into visuals, words, and moments that stick.

Outside work, I’m usually listening to podcasts about human behaviour (and, occasionally, murder) or attempting to work out while my dog stages an intervention.

I started my career as a Religious Studies and Philosophy teacher, before working for a major UK charity developing and piloting new fundraising initiatives and technologies. Innovations consulting was a natural next step, followed by setting up an L & D and content marketing agency inside The School of Life. I also ran my own content creation business, Studio Loki.

As Director of Learning, I bring together my love of innovation, creativity and big ideas, overseeing the curriculum and coaching programme at Future Talent.

In my spare time I enjoy watching movies, travelling and (rather badly) practising Jiu Jitsu.

As an Events Coordinator, I help plan and run the events from start to finish — taking care of all the details before, during, and after to make sure everything goes smoothly. I also support other teams with learner enrolments and enjoy being part of a collaborative environment.

Outside of work, I’m a DJ and run my own music event, which keeps my creative side alive and connected to my love of music and community. I am a big reader, especially interested in anything about the mystical or unknown, and I also spend much of my free time travelling to new countries as I love to explore and to immerse myself in different cultures.
